BitTorrent

Bittorrent

BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing protocol that enables users to distribute large amounts of data efficiently over the internet. Instead of downloading a file from a single server, BitTorrent breaks the file into small pieces that are shared among multiple users, allowing faster and more reliable transfers. Each participant in the network can simultaneously download and upload pieces of the file, reducing strain on any one source. This decentralized approach makes BitTorrent ideal for sharing large media files, software distributions, and open-source projects. While the technology itself is legal and widely used for legitimate purposes, it can also be misused for sharing copyrighted material without permission. Overall, BitTorrent remains one of the most effective and influential file-sharing technologies ever developed.
