Have I Been Pwned (HIBP) is a free online service that lets people check whether their email address or phone number has appeared in known data breaches. Created by security researcher Troy Hunt, HIBP collects publicly circulating breach data and allows users to safely search it without exposing their credentials. If your information appears in a breach, HIBP will list which incident it came from and what types of data were leaked. The site also offers optional alerts so you’ll be notified if your details show up in future breaches, helping you take action—like changing passwords or enabling two-factor authentication—to stay secure.
