The
Windows 11 25H2 update, also known as the
2025 Update, is largely a streamlined release that activates many features already delivered in previous builds, rather than introducing a slew of brand-new ones. It uses an enablement package, meaning if you're on 24H2, most of the underlying changes are already present — the update just “switches on” dormant capabilities.
Key improvements include AI-driven actions in File Explorer, where you can right-click on images or documents to blur backgrounds, remove elements, or generate summaries via Microsoft 365 and Copilot. The Settings app is more powerful, featuring an AI agent that responds to natural-language commands, and a “Quick Machine Recovery” mode lets your PC recover from boot failures by fetching fixes from the cloud. Accessibility also improves, with a new Braille viewer, enhanced Narrator for smoother navigation, and more intuitive Voice Access. On the security side, Windows Hello now supports passkeys, and admins gain more control — for example, removing pre-installed Store apps via policy. While Microsoft says 25H2 doesn’t include entirely new features, it consolidates and enables many advanced and AI-powered experiences, making the platform feel more cohesive and forward-looking.
